Prior to BSC (1967) we used STR to link and get computers to transfer data with each other. Heady stuff back then.

In 1966 we began installing and testing this massive world wide system not fully described in this Wiki piece. Part of it linked NKP, Thailand with Saigon/Long Binh in Vietnam, Clark AFB in the Philippines, Hickam AFB in Hawaii and the Pentagon adding microwave and troposcatter en.wikipedia.org to complete the links.
